Soup's On

Lect's Soup Stop in Georgetown has the best soup! Only $5.00 fabulous homemade soups made daily. Take out only, no space to eat, although I have been known to eat it in my car after buying it. Comes in an ecofriendly paper box, with a roll, a pat of butter, utensils, and salt and pepper.

Recycle those plastic bags

Online tutorial on fusing plastic bags...here

I bought a bag that was made this way...I haven't tried it yet. I wonder if it smells bad, or smells extremely bad.

Green and Local in Ballard

I stumbled into the foodie heaven of fast food today after dropping my car at Carter VW. I walked past the car dealer and toward my friend at the local acupuncture office. I saw an a-board on a corner mentioning green food...I thought what ? Grass fed beef burgers, local produce and "food with a conscience". I then found this place: GreenGo Food. I had the salmon sandwich. Coleslaw, homemade pickles...yum. Excellent food, and they say they'll come out and deliver if you call them on the phone, while you drive by in your car or on your bike.

They have a blog: http://www.greengofood.blogspot.com/

Real Estate Rebound

Jim Gillespie, CEO of Coldwell Banker Real Estate; Robert Shiller, chief economist at Macro Markets; and Tony Fratto, a CNBC contributor, discuss the state of the housing market.

Here is a Maria B interviewing some "experts". I keep hearing experts say that things will look up in about 9 months. They've been saying that for...so...long...

Gluten and Goodness

I have a couple of friends that eat gluten free. I am often concerned about what to feed them, just meat and potatoes, vegies? No bread, no pasta, no soy sauce?????

A recent ARTICLE about her talks about her sweetie, the chef, as she calls him. He was so enamored by her and her food restrictions, he turned the bar where he works into a gluten free menu. Can it be true? He cooks here, according to the article.

I just started reading the gluten-free girl by shauna ahern, so here is a link to her blog. She takes pictures of the food she loves, because she considers it art.

Tax credit or $8,000

I was with a friend the other day chatting about the tax credit for "first time home buyers" and she thought that you actually got paid the money if you bought something, like a car rebate. Of course, I also still thought it was $7,500, not $8,000, and I guess we are both wrong, and both a little bit right. Read more here:

Either way, it's very exciting, and boy did I need something like that when I bought my first house. Back in the day...in Seattle for...$88,000. Wow.

Contractor Cleans Up!

Wow! This man did an amazing job on the repair to the holes in my walls after the plumbing repair, and best of all, he cleaned up after himself. I love that. If every contractor did that, I'd be so much happier with the jobs they did.
