Did you know there are companies putting fragrance and flavor in our food? Perfume, yes, but the food we eat, the beverages we drink, even pumped into rooms and...am I the only person who thinks this is super creepy?

Greening Seattle

I finally stumbled on the answer to my question,  "who is behind this Greening of Seattle?" I've seen the volunteers and piles of ivy ripped out of urban forests, especially along Admiral Way SW, in West Seattle.

The Thank You Economy

I've been reading this book, The Thank You Economy by Gary Vaynerchuk, and thinking about reading and connecting with people online and off. He has many great ideas in the book, including this: "the person who posts a negative comment is a customer you can talk to." (page 71)

I recently sent a comment to a man who makes soap locally, about his new packaging. His company: Ballard Organics. His soap, my favorite: Ubermoist.

This is what I said to him:




"I am a huge fan of your soap, which I found originally at the Ballard Sunday market. I recently was very disappointed to not find it at my local store. I was shopping at the Ballard Market.

I wanted to find Uber Moist.

I looked and looked and decided to by an alternative brand, which said it was FRAGRANCE FREE, hoping that would do.

I was AT THE CHECKOUT counter before I realized it was your soap, and Uber Moist.

The new packaging had me completely lost. I can't read the Uber Moist without a serious squint or my glasses. I miss the old package,and really don't like the shiny paper. It looks like the kind of paper that is coated and not recyclable.

Making Pickles

Secret family recipe (mom's) for dill pickles.

Here we are, stuffing the jars and getting a batch ready.

We make them once a year.

Several Hours later, 24 quarts of pickles. Yum.

Perhaps just staying in, and watching the guys next door unload fish and clean out the fish unloading equipment.

I know this is just a sample...of the current times. This home builder just stopped working. I hope this builder sends his/her crews back around to finish the job, or at least take a dump run.

Lect's Soup Stop in Georgetown has the best soup! Only $5.00 fabulous homemade soups made daily. Take out only, no space to eat, although I have been known to eat it in my car after buying it. Comes in an ecofriendly paper box, with a roll, a pat of butter, utensils, and salt and pepper.

Gluten and Goodness

I have a couple of friends that eat gluten free. I am often concerned about what to feed them, just meat and potatoes, vegies? No bread, no pasta, no soy sauce?????

A recent ARTICLE about her talks about her sweetie, the chef, as she calls him. He was so enamored by her and her food restrictions, he turned the bar where he works into a gluten free menu. Can it be true? He cooks here, according to the article.

I just started reading the gluten-free girl by shauna ahern, so here is a link to her blog. She takes pictures of the food she loves, because she considers it art.

Traffic in Seattle

Traffic!!! In Seattle. I think the traffic engineers should have to drive the roads they have planned work on, in a time-crunch-gotta-get-there way to see how super fine the plan is working out. Have you been on the West Seattle bridge lately? or driving to the stadiums lately?
Frustrating...

Looking at Staged Real Estate

I looked at 7 condos downtown Seattle the other day. The first one I saw was incredibly beautiful. Why? Because the owner had really gorgeous funiture, and art, and when you walked in, it smelled nice, like some kind of exotic floral arrangement. There was no floral arrangement. Don't get me wrong. It did NOT smell like the artificial air fresheners that make me want to wash up, and blow my nose after viewing a house. Uck! You know what I mean, Glade would be one company that makes them. These are so gross. Uck. Another I looked at had something like a glade plug in freshener. It was a fine place, with no furniture, and a bad, bad, bad smell. Where would you rather live?
